About the workshop

As the scale of data has grown from the order of megabytes to the order of petabytes, energy consumption and power provisioning have become a key consideration in managing (i.e., analyzing and storing) such large datasets. Traditional data processing methods have largely ignored incorporating these energy costs in planning, provisioning and processing of data processing and data management tasks.

The goal of this two-day workshop is to act as a planning meeting for the development and deployment of energy-efficient data management methods and data-intensive applications, which are important from both an economic and a sustainability perspective.

If you are working in research areas related to this event, you are invited to submit a 2-page white-paper, as specified on the web-site, by Thursday, March 24, 2011. The organizing committee will examine all submissions and choose 25-30 invitees to the workshop by April 1, 2011.
